Request an emergency repair to your council home

An emergency repair is any problem that could be a security risk or cause harm to you, another person or to your property.

Make sure your repair is an emergency before requesting a call out. You will be charged for non-emergency out of hours calls and repairs that are not our responsibility.

All emergency repairs need to be reported by telephone on 0800 028 1870.

Only call outside office hours if:

  • your home is not secure
  • you have a serious water leak that cannot be contained until the next working day
  • your only toilet is blocked
  • there are dangerous electrics such as exposed or visible cables
  • your home has blocked drains that are overflowing with sewage

If you smell gas

You should contact SGN on 0800 111999 if you smell gas.

Heating, hot water, electricity and water supply

We will only attend for emergency repairs in certain circumstances. If there is a problem with your supply, you should first:

  • check that there is credit on your meter, if you have a prepayment meter
  • contact your electricity or water provider to check if there are general service disruption issues

We will only attend your home for heating and hot water emergency repairs if it is:

  • between November and April, unless your electric shower is affected
  • more than 24 hours until the next working day (Friday evening, Saturdays and Sunday morning)
