Temporary traffic restriction for street parties and events

If you want to close a road for a street party or fete, you must apply to hold the event and also apply for a temporary traffic restriction.

You will be taken to an external website to complete this form.

The routes available for parades are restricted in the town centre and only the approved routes will be considered.

All conditions of the temporary traffic restriction application must be met. There is an event specific fee associated with your application and there may also be traffic management costs depending on your event.

Play streets

Play streets help communities come together. They give children, young people and families a safe space to play and be active. They do this by closing a street, or part of a street, to through‑traffic for a short time.

Guidance for setting up a play street in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole can be found below.

You can find free advice and practical resources about play streets on the Playing Out website, including simple steps to get started and answers to common questions.
