Coastal defence works near the PierView Room

We are replacing timber beach groynes on Bournemouth seafront between 5 October 2026 and 31 March 2027. These works are part of our programme to help protect the coastline.

The PierView Room will remain open throughout the works.

What will stay the same

During the works:

  • the PierView Room will remain open
  • vehicle access and parking arrangements will stay the same
  • the promenade will remain open
  • access to the venue will be maintained at all times

What may be affected

During the works:

  • access to the beach directly in front of the venue may be restricted for safety reasons
  • construction activity may be visible from the venue and surrounding area
  • contractors are expected to work Monday to Saturday, from 7am to 7pm, depending on weather and tide conditions
  • some work may take place outside these hours when low tides are needed for access
