Disabled Facilities Grants

How much you could get from the Disabled Facilities Grant

How much grant you get usually depends on your household income and savings. Depending on your income, you may need to pay towards the cost of the work to the property.

For disabled children and young people under 18 who are disabled, the grant is not means tested. This means the income of their parents or guardians will not be taken into account.

You can apply for up to £30,000. In some situations we may be able to provide more. You can find out more about these circumstances in our Disabled Facilities Grants policy.

When we can cover all of the costs

In some situations, we can offer you a full grant without a financial assessment. This is if you or your partner get:

  • Income Support
  • income-based Employment and Support Allowance (not contribution-based ESA)
  • income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (not contribution-based JSA)
  • Guarantee Pension Credit (not Savings Pension Credit alone)
  • Housing Benefit
  • Working Tax Credit and, or Child Tax Credit - provided the annual income for the purposes of assessing entitlement to the tax credit is less than £15,050
  • Universal Credit, including any Universal Credit which introduced from 2013 onwards as a replacement for working age benefits and tax credits

A Disabled Facilities Grant will not affect any benefits you get.
