What our key challenges were during LGR

LGR was a significant and complex undertaking that brought several challenges. Merging different systems, processes and technologies required intensive coordination, especially where legacy platforms were incompatible or had to remain available throughout the transition.

There were also cultural and organisational challenges, as teams with different working practices and histories came together for the first time. The tight timelines and scale of change meant colleagues had to manage day to day delivery while also contributing to reorganisation work. Managing public expectations and ensuring continuity of service across three areas added further pressure.

Despite these challenges, the experience strengthened collaborative working and highlighted the need for ongoing improvement across digital services, data and organisational design.
