Overview

Local Government Reorganisation brought Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole together to form BCP Council in April 2019. It was one of the most complex reorganisations undertaken in the UK, merging multiple councils, services, systems and ways of working into a single authority. The process created the foundations for a modern, digitally capable and efficient council, able to deliver consistent and reliable services for all residents across the three towns.

LGR involved unifying hundreds of systems, aligning policies and processes, and creating a single digital presence and organisational structure. It required significant collaboration across teams and set the direction for the council’s long term transformation work, including improvements to digital services, data, infrastructure and organisational design. The experience of LGR continues to shape how we strengthen service delivery, modernise technology and build a more connected and resilient council.
