Bikeability Holiday courses

We are currently running a small amount of summer holiday Bikeability cycle training courses for children:

  • Learn to ride - for children aged 4 years old and above (children will be grouped in ages 4 to 8 and 9 and above)
  • Level 1 and Level 2 combined for children aged 9 and above
  • Level 3 for children aged 11 and above

Course locations

The courses will be taking place at 2 locations:

Initially, these holiday courses will be offered free, but we will be introducing a charge for future holiday courses to help protect our funding and our instructors’ income.

Course dates

Courses will be running during 12 to 15 August and 19 to 22 August.

Booking a place

Booking is a 2 step process and both steps must be completed before we can confirm your child's place on the course.

We cannot confirm your booking until both steps have been completed.

Step 1 - register

To book a place on one of these courses, you must register your details on the Bikeability website.

If you do not register, we will not be able to confirm your place on a course. You should register as soon as possible as places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and we cannot guarantee everyone a place.

Registering on the system will also enable you to request to borrow a bike or helmet if required (we only have a limited number of bikes to lend so please only request one if your child has no bike or you are unable to bring it).

Step 2 - contact us

Once you have registered, please email bikeability@bcpcouncil.gov.uk to let us know which course you would like to book and provide the following information:

  • your child’s name
  • your child’s school
  • your child’s age
  • your child’s year group
  • parent or carer's name
  • parent or carer's emergency telephone number

We will then contact you to confirm which dates and times are available for that course.

What happens next

You will receive a booking confirmation email from us confirming which course you are booked on and any further information you will need. Alternatively, we’ll let you know of other available sessions if the date you requested is no longer available.

We are a small team so bear with us when waiting for a reply - we will confirm your booking as soon as possible.

If you book a course and do not attend, we are not able to claim any funding for that place and our instructors will not be paid for the place and another child who may have been able to attend will miss out. Therefore, please only book a place if you know your child will attend.

If you have booked a course and are unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible so the place can be offered to someone else.

Instructors

Our instructors are all fully qualified to the national standard, DBS checked and trained in first aid. They also receive regular safeguarding training.
