For works to be carried out safely on or near the highway you may require a road or footpath closure, parking restriction or similar. If so, you must apply for a temporary traffic regulation order.

Fees

The fees depend on the nature of the restriction and the time required. The current fees are:

• £625 for 1 to 5 days inclusive
• £625 for up to 21 days emergency road closure
• £2,130 for 6 days to 18 months inclusive

How to apply

You can apply for a temporary traffic restriction online.

When applying, you must give a minimum of:

• 10 weeks notice for new applications with a duration of 6 days to 18 months
• 8 weeks notice for new applications with a duration of 1 to 5 days
