Report a vehicle parked in front of your dropped kerb

Action against blocked driveway

Do not take action yourself as any damage to the vehicle may result in criminal prosecution.

If someone has blocked access to your driveway and you have a dropped kerb, call our parking team on 01202 128 900.

When calling, you will need to tell us:

  • your name
  • your address
  • your telephone number
  • details of the vehicle obstructing your driveway

Once you report it to us, we will arrange for a civil enforcement officer to visit and carry out appropriate enforcement.

Parking in front of a dropped kerb may result in a penalty charge notice (PCN) of £70.

You can apply for an access protection marking to be painted across your dropped kerb to highlight your access.

When a dropped kerb is considered to be blocked

A vehicle is blocking a dropped kerb if any part of it is covering any part of the dropped kerb, including the sloped edges.

The only exceptions are where a vehicle is:

  • parked in a designated parking bay
  • parked outside of a residential premises with permission of the owner (this does not apply to shared driveways, including buildings of multiple occupancy such as flats)
  • being used by the emergency services
  • parked to make a delivery (maximum of 20 minutes)
  • parked for the purpose of certain building or maintenance works
