Activities

Angling is available here with membership through Wimborne and District Angling Club.

Useful information

The area was heavily mined between 1920 and 1950. The subsequent sand removal left two large pits which flooded and became Creekmoor Ponds.

Entrance

The entrance to Creekmoor Ponds is at the end of Petersham Road.

Habitats

As well as the 2 major ponds, the site has semi-mature woodland, scrub, tough grassland and remnant heathland.

Look out for common woodland, waterfowl and dragonflies. Creekmoor Ponds is also a good place to spot great crested grebe, which breed here, and the small colourful firecrest, that winters here in small numbers.

Dogs

Dogs must be on a short lead when livestock is near and during the bird breeding season from 1 March to 31 July. At other times dogs must be under close control.

Make sure you follow the rules in our nature reserves.
