Overview

A child under the age of 3 may qualify for a Blue Badge if they have a medical condition that means they always need to be accompanied by bulky medical equipment that cannot be carried easily.

Bulky medical equipment can include:

  • ventilators
  • suction machines
  • feed pumps
  • parenteral equipment
  • syringe drivers,
  • oxygen administration or monitoring equipment
  • casts and associated medical equipment for the correction of hip dysplasia

You will be asked to provide evidence of the child’s medical condition and their need for medical equipment when you apply.

A Blue Badge issued for a child under 3 will be valid until the day after their third birthday.

You may still be eligible if you do not meet this exact criteria. Find out what other circumstances may make you eligible for a Blue Badge.
