If you’re passionate about pruning or wild about weeding, then why not sign up to BCP Council’s garden waste collection service for 2022.

This service runs fortnightly from February – December 2022 and costs £46.44 per bin. This price reflects the annual RPI increase, while also removing the cost of two missed collections from earlier in the year, when the service was temporarily suspended for a month, due to staff being required to self-isolate, alongside a national shortage of LGV drivers and lack of agency workers.

Councillor Mark Anderson, Portfolio Holder for Environment, Cleansing and Waste commented:

"The garden waste collection service is a fantastic and valued service for our green fingered residents. Alongside home composting it helps to drive down trips to our recycling centres, reducing the number of cars on the road which all helps towards our climate emergency goals.

"Unfortunately for the second year running we had to interrupt this service due to the pandemic, but we have listened to residents’ feedback and have taken the cost of the two missed collections off the price of next years’ service.

"We are passionate about creating a sustainable environment and this service helps promote sustainable resource management with 14,158 tonnes of garden waste collected so far this year and turned into a high-quality compost."

In order to receive all 22 collections next year, residents must register for the garden waste service by Friday 17 December 2021.
