Ending your council home tenancy
If you decide to move out of your home, you can let us know by:
- completing the online end of tenancy form
- emailing bcphomes.operationsteam@bcpcouncil.gov.uk
- calling 0800 028 1870 to request an end of tenancy form
You will need to give us at least 4 weeks’ notice before the date you want to leave, this will be your notice period. The notice period must start on a Monday and when you are ready to return your keys, they must be handed in on the Monday your tenancy ends before 10am.
When you are in your notice period to end your tenancy, your housing officer will get in touch with you to arrange a pre-void inspection where they will make note of any repairs that are required and inform you of any repairs/alterations you may be responsible for, as well as offering general advice about the end of tenancy process.
Make sure you consider your actions before ending your tenancy. Speak to our support team or your housing officer for more advice and seek legal advice if it is needed.
