Overview
Pride in Place is a community-led national programme funded by the UK Government that will invest up to £60 million in 3 neighbourhoods in Bournemouth and Poole over 10 years with £20 million being invested in each area.
The programme supports both long-term and short-term improvements chosen by local people, helping neighbourhoods become better places to live, work and spend time.
Where the programme will invest
Pride in Place will focus on:
- Boscombe West
- Hamworthy West and Turlin Moor
- West Howe
People who live and work in these areas will help decide what matters most locally.
What Pride in Place will support
Pride in Place is about investing in the people, places, and projects that can make a real difference to everyday life and help build stronger, more connected communities.
Investment could support:
- neighbourhood spaces
- local projects, events and shared spaces that bring people together
- improvements that support community wellbeing, culture and local pride
Pride in Place gives communities the opportunity to help shape lasting improvements that matter to local people.
How decisions will be made
Each area will have a neighbourhood board that includes their local MP and a ward councillor. This board will work with:
- local residents
- the council
- partner organisations
These boards will guide how funding is used and help develop a long‑term plan for each neighbourhood.
