Private hire or hackney carriage vehicle licences are issued to those person(s) who have a financial interest in the vehicle and the licence issued to it.

The licence relates to the vehicle and the plates together. These will never be dealt with separately so if someone has purchased the car but someone else is paying for the licence then each person should be listed on the licence application.

Any transfer or change to vehicle licence holder must be confirmed by all interested parties.

To register any transfer or change you will need to:

• fully complete both parts of our application form
• provide a V5 with new registered keeper details
• provide proof of ownership/bill of sale – this must include someone listed on the licence application
• pay the fee.

Anyone being added or removed from the licence must submit copies of their identification

Verification

Where someone is being removed from a licence they will be contacted by us and the must confirm they are aware of the change and they consent to being removed from the licence.

Once all checks have been completed the new licence will be emailed to the main licence holder as stated on the application.
