Overview
A personal licence allows an individual to be a Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) at a licensed premise that sells or supplies alcohol.
You can apply for a personal licence if you:
- are 18 years old or over
- have an accredited Level 2 qualification for personal licence holder
- have not had a personal licence forfeited in the last 5 years
- have not been convicted of any relevant offence or any foreign offence
- have proof of your right to work in the UK
We can only accept applications if you live in Bournemouth, Christchurch or Poole. You can check your postcode to see which council you need to apply to.
Fees
The cost of a personal licence is £37.
How to apply
You can apply for a personal licence online.
You will need:
- the original or a certified copy of your Level 2 licensing qualification (or equivalent)
- Basic DBS certificate dated within 1 month of your application
- a passport style photo of yourself
- proof of your right to work in the UK
Licence expiry date
Since the 1 April 2015, personal licences are now granted indefinitely with no expiry date. If you hold a personal licence that has an expiry date this remains valid indefinitely and the expiry date should be disregarded. You can update your licence to remove the expiry date.
