Free Carbon Literacy training for SMEs
We are providing support to local businesses in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole to help reduce their carbon impact.
Between September 2023 and March 2025 (through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund) we helped more than 70 local companies access:
- Climate Essentials to create carbon reduction plan
- over £80,000 in grants for business decarbonisation
Although the funded access to Climate Essentials and the grant scheme has ended, we continue to support local businesses by providing:
- a financial contribution for energy audits
- free carbon literacy training
Since November 2024, we have provided free carbon literacy training for local SMEs. An important part of becoming a more sustainable organisation is employee education and engagement. The course covers:
- climate change - including what it is, its causes and impacts
- personal and business carbon footprints
- co-benefits of climate action
- action planning
- communicating climate change
Courses are delivered through a mixture of online and in-person sessions, consisting of a total of around 8 hours of learning time.
You can watch a short video of Christine announcing the support on YouTube.
