Overview
We are preparing a new Local Plan for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
The Local Plan will provide a strategy for growth over the next 15 years and included planning policies against which future development would have been assessed. It will be prepared under the governments proposals for a new plan making system.
The Local Plan will be accompanied by an updated Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL). CIL is a ‘£ per sqm’ charge on new development to fund infrastructure needed to support growth of housing, employment, leisure and transport.
Withdrawal of the draft Local Plan and CIL draft Charging Schedule 2024
We had submitted a draft Local Plan and the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) draft charging schedule to the Secretary of State on 27 June 2024 for examination. Following the initial hearing sessions in January 2025 the Local Plan Inspectors recommended we withdraw the draft Local Plan. On 3 June Council confirmed that the draft Local Plan would be withdrawn. As a result we will now prepare a new Local Plan, the proposed timeframe for the preparation of the Local Plan is set out in the Local Development Scheme.
