Call for Sites 2025

A call for sites is a way for people to suggest areas for future development.

We are interested to hear about potential opportunities for a range of land uses, including:

  • housing for example market, affordable, specialised accommodation needs and gypsy and traveller sites
  • commercial for example employment (e.g. offices, warehousing), retail and leisure
  • renewable energy generation for example sites for solar, wind, hydro power and community-led renewable energy initiatives
  • community uses for example sport pitches
  • habitat mitigation land
  • other nature recovery and biodiversity net gain projects

Individuals, developers, organisations and communities can all suggest sites they would like to be considered for development through our Local Plan process.

How to submit a site

You can suggest a site by completing the site submission application form on haveyoursay.bcpcouncil.gov.uk.

You must:

  • complete a separate form for each site (and each development proposal)
  • submit all the required information
  • resubmit If you have previously submitted a site

You will also need to provide details about the site including:

  • land ownership
  • an accurate site location plan
  • current uses
  • proposed uses
  • when the site could be available for development

You can submit a site from 7 July to 29 August 2025.

What happens after you submit a site suggestion

The submission of a site through the call for sites does not mean that the site will be allocated or that the site is suitable for development.

Sites will be subject to a detailed assessment to evaluate whether they are suitable and available to be considered for selection as potential allocations in our Local Plan.

As part of this process, sites will be subject to a sustainability appraisal assessment. Brownfield sites submitted will also be considered for inclusion on the Brownfield Land Register.
