Bicycle maintenance course

Our bike maintenance course can help you to understand simple bike design and set up and basic safety checks.

You will learn how to:

  • find and repair a puncture
  • fix a broken chain
  • measure and fit a chain
  • remove and refit wheels
  • adjust brakes and gears
  • fix broken spokes (if time allows)

The course also includes an introduction to:

  • correct brake set up, pads and levers
  • set up and working of indexed gear systems

These practical courses are ideal for people who want to know how to perform basic bike care and simple repairs.

All ages from 10 upwards are welcome. Tea and coffee on the night is also included.

Course dates and times

The course runs from from 7pm to 9pm at Kings Park Cycle Centre.

The next courses will be held on:

  • Wednesday 9 July
  • Tuesday 7 October

Cost

The course costs £15 per person which is paid by a non-refundable bank transfer before the course. 

How to attend a course

Email your preferred course date and the following details to our instructor Nigel Winter at nigelcwinter@btinternet.com:

  • name
  • home address
  • contact number
  • age (if 18 or under)

Once you have agreed a course date, your instructor will provide his bank details so you can make a bank transfer.

When you have paid the course fee, email Nigel to let him know that you have paid the fee and he will then get back to you to confirm the date and time of your course.

If there is an earlier course date that you would like that is fully booked, let your instructor know. These may become available closer to the time.
