What we do
The Virtual School works in partnership with the child or young person's social worker and school/educational setting to ensure that they are supported to fulfil their potential at all stages of their education, and to give them the best opportunity to be successful in their adult lives.
The purposes we use your personal information for
We collect and process your personal information to provide these services to you. This will include:
- carrying out our statutory duties pertaining to children and young people in care where this applies
- monitoring the education and support for children and young people in care
- providing educational advice to make positive changes in the individuals education
- to investigate any worries or complaints you may have about your education or our services
- to check the quality of our services.

We only obtain and use the information we need to provide our services to you. We also obtain and use special category information.

Special category personal information - We also use these additional conditions to process your special category personal information

- A range of ‘Alternative provision’ suppliers who provide us with bespoke educational services such as tutoring, counselling and other educational activities.
How long we keep information about you
We will retain this information for the ‘life of the child’ equal to 95 years from the date of birth of the child as stated in our statutory guidance and as required by the Independent Inquiry into Child Abuse (IICSA).
