What we do

The Anti Social Behaviour (ASB) and Community Safety Patrol Officer (CSAS) Teams are part of Communities within Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council. The ASB and CSAS teams work with others to prevent, tackle and investigate antisocial behaviour, harassment, prejudice and some crimes to improve the quality of life for local communities.

they receive and investigate complaints of ASB, these can be from members of the public, businesses or partner organisations
they work in partnership with other organisations that are responsible for dealing with ASB, such as Dorset police, housing providers and support services
they work with victims and communities to understand the problems being experienced and to collate evidence of the issues
where necessary proportionate enforcement action is taken, this is generally using tools and powers within the ASB, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

The purposes we use your information for

to support and seek to protect victims of anti-social behaviour, harassment, prejudice and criminal behaviour
to assess and investigate incidents of anti-social behaviour, harassment, prejudice and some crimes
to deal with the alleged perpetrators of anti-social behaviour, harassment, prejudice and crime.

The personal information we collect and use

We only obtain and use the information we need to provide our services to you. We do obtain and use special category information.

The law we use to process your personal information

The Crime and Disorder Act 1998

This Act allows agencies to share relevant personal information and sensitive information in the execution of their duties to tackle crime and disorder and anti-social behaviour in their area.

Anti Social Behaviour, Crime and Police Act 2014

The effective operation of the legislation requires the relevant bodies to share relevant information for the purpose of carrying out the community trigger case review. The relevant bodies may request any person to disclose information for the purpose of a Community Trigger review. If the request is made to a person who exercises public functions and they possess the information they must disclose it. The only exception to that is where to share the information would be either:

in contravention of any of the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998
prohibited by Part 1 of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000.

Other than these two exceptions, disclosing information for the Community Trigger does not breach any obligation of confidence or any other restriction on the disclosure of information.

The conditions that we use to process your personal information are

Public task: the processing is necessary for us to perform a task in the public interest or for our official functions, and the task or function has a clear basis in law (include appendix A)
Consent: you have given consent for us to process your personal data for a specific purpose, or purposes.

Special category personal information

We also use these additional conditions to process your special category personal information.

Public interest: the processing is necessary for reasons of substantial public interest (see Appendix A)
Consent: you have given explicit consent to the processing of your personal information for one or more specified purposes.

How to withdraw your consent

Where you have been asked to provide your consent to processing you can withdraw it at any time. If you wish to withdraw your consent, please contact or talk to the officer in the Council who has been providing the service or services to you. If you do not have an officer that you have regular contact with, please make your request to withdraw consent to our Customer Services team.

Remember to tell us which service or services your request applies to, so that we know who to send it to within the Council.
