There are three entrances to the gardens - one from Southcote Road on the north side, and two from Frances Road on the south side.
Useful information
The gardens are home to Knyveton Gardens Bowling Club and there are 3 full-sized tennis courts operated by St Sebastian Tennis Academy. You can find out more about activities in the garden through the Friends of Knyveton and Spencer Gardens Facebook group - this belongs to a group of volunteers looking after the two parks.
Activities and facilities at Knyveton Gardens
Alongside the tennis courts and bowling, families can also enjoy a play area aimed at entertaining toddlers and younger children.
The play area includes:
- a toddler multi-play unit with a slide
- a toddler bridge and see-saw
- somersault bars
- play panels with games including noughts and crosses
- hopscotch
- a table tennis table (bring your own bats and balls)
A sensory garden with a goldfish pond provides a soothing space with seating and accessible pathways.
There is also a nature trail through the gardens with six posts featuring carvings and information about local wildlife.
The Parks Foundation also runs monthly Parks in Mind sessions in the gardens, usually on a Monday.
Accessibility
The site is easily accessible all the year round, with unrestricted access for wheelchairs and buggies throughout the gardens. There are disabled car parking spaces next to the Frances Road entrance.
There are disabled toilet facilities in the bowls pavilion, but you can only use them when the pavilion is open.
Getting there
Knyveton Gardens are between Bournemouth town centre and the centre of Boscombe. Bournemouth train station is an 11 minute walk away, and there is on-road parking next to the gardens on Frances Road.
Other gardens nearby
You can find Spencer Road Gardens just to the east of Knyveton Gardens. This is an area of green space used mainly for walking and dog walking.
The larger Boscombe Chine Gardens are also nearby and include a café, mini golf, a play area and a ball court.
