If your Blue Badge application has been refused because it did not meet the eligibility criteria, you can ask us to review the decision if you believe you are eligible.
A review is not the same as a complaint. If you are unhappy with how we communicated with you or the service you received, you must follow our complaints process.
How to request a review
Email blue.badges@bcpcouncil.gov.uk to request a review of your Blue Badge decision.
Your request must be made within 30 days of the date your application was refused.
Only one review can be accepted for each application.
What to include with your review request
You need to explain why you believe you are eligible for a Blue Badge. You must also provide new or additional evidence or show that there has been a material change in your circumstances since your original application.
Your evidence must support what you told us in your original application. It should show how your medical condition affects your mobility, not only confirm your diagnosis.
Examples of evidence that may help include:
- consultant letter
- specialist medical report
- physiotherapy assessment
- psychiatrist or psychologist letter
- risk assessment or EHCP (for children)
What happens after you request a review
We will look again at your application, the original decision and any new or additional evidence you provide.
If the new or additional evidence does not show that you meet the eligibility criteria, the original decision will be upheld.
You should expect a response to your request within 20 working days.
If your application was rejected because it was incomplete
If your application was rejected because it was incomplete or did not include the required supporting documents, you cannot ask us to review our decision. You can submit a new application with all the required supporting documents if you want to be considered in the future.
