When we use social media
We update and monitor our social media channels during our office hours which are:
- Monday to Thursday from 9am to 5pm
- Friday from 9am to 4:30pm
We read all your posts and replies and we will try to assist you wherever possible.
If your request is serious or urgent you to contact our customer service team directly.
Engaging with us using social media
We welcome feedback and ideas and want to join the conversation wherever possible. We want you to have your say and we do not hide any comments if they are critical of what we do. However, there are rules that we ask that everyone follows to keep our community safe.
We will remove messages and block user which we believe don’t adhere to our community standards. We ask you to:
- be civil, tasteful and relevant, and respect everyone
- make everyone feel welcome to contribute with no bullying
There are times when we will delete your post. Please do not:
- swear or use abusive language
- post anything that is unlawful, libellous, harassing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, obscene, profane, sexually oriented or racially offensive.
- spread false information, or any information that you aren't sure of
- spam or troll our social media accounts
- be rude or aggressive to each other or members of our team
- post any personal information
- advertise products or services
Repeated abuse will result in blocking/banning a user from engaging with us via our social media accounts.
Be Kind
Please remember to be kind. We only use an automated messages if you contact us outside of working hours to let you know we’ll respond when we are back – otherwise our messages are read and replied to by our team of real people. It is our job to help you if we can, but it’s not our job to deal with personal or unkind messages – so we won’t tolerate it.
Debate is welcomed, but our page is not a place for arguments. If you’re not being respectful to each other’s views, your comments and threads will be removed.
We will also turn comments off on posts if we feel it is appropriate to do so.
Endorsement
We like to engage with our local residents, business and online communities, but following, liking or sharing content from another organisation, businesses or individuals doesn't mean that we endorse them.
Political restrictions
We cannot engage on issues of party politics as outlined in the National Code of Conduct for Communications in local government. During the pre-election period we reserve the right to remove posts of a political nature.
