Feel the energy, embrace the challenge - and be part of one of the South Coast’s most uplifting community events as the Vitality Bay Run 2026 returns this spring. Whether you’re chasing a personal best, lacing up for fun, or looking for a feel‑good way to stay active this year, entries are now open – and there’s a place for everyone on Bournemouth’s iconic seafront.

Set against seven miles of award‑winning sandy beaches and the sweeping views of Poole Bay, the event offers an unforgettable backdrop for runners and walkers alike. If boosting your wellbeing is part of your New Year goals, this is the perfect moment to tick off those intentions while supporting brilliant local causes.

Many participants take on the run for a personal reason – to honour loved ones, improve their wellbeing, or simply to enjoy a shared community moment.

Jessica Kerley, participant, said: “The Vitality Bay Run is a firm favourite in our family calendar. After taking part for several years, it’s inspiring to see so many incredible charities represented and supported year after year.

“We love that there’s a race for everyone, even the little ones, making it a brilliant boost for our family’s wellbeing. We can’t wait to be part of this year’s event!”

Whether you are an experienced runner or simply looking for an enjoyable way to keep active, people of all ages and abilities are invited to take part in any one of a number of distances, from competitive runs to relaxed family friendly options.

Scheduled for Sunday, 22 March 2026, registrations for the Vitality Bay Run are open, with four run options on offer: the Half Marathon, 10km, 5km and a 1km Children’s Run event, catering to runners of all ages and abilities.

The event proudly continues its partnership with health and life insurer Vitality as Title Sponsor and Official Wellbeing Partner, bringing its well-known commitment to healthy living and physical activity to one of the region’s biggest annual events.

The Vitality Bay Run is pleased to announce four charity sponsors, each playing a crucial role in supporting the heart of our communities across the BCP area:

  • Dorset Mind
  • Bournemouth Foodbank
  • Forest Holme Hospice
  • HealthBus Trust

Every step taken helps these organisations continue their vital work- from providing mental health support and emergency food parcels, to specialist hospice care, and mobile health support to vulnerable residents across the BCP area.

Cllr Richard Herrett, Portfolio Holder for Destination, Leisure and Commercial Operations, said: “Starting Spring with the Vitality Bay Run is a fantastic way for people to come together and enjoy our stunning coastline while focusing on their health and wellbeing.

“We’re pleased to be working with Vitality once again to deliver an event that not only supports active lifestyles and community but also raises vital funds for local charities making a real difference in our area.”

Hot Radio returns as the event’s Radio Sponsor broadcasting live from the seafront to keep the atmosphere buzzing from early morning warm-ups to medal moment finish line celebrations, cheering on participants, and keeping the crowds entertained with music and updates.

Nick Read, Chief Vitality Officer, said: “Each year the Vitality Bay Run unites the community and inspires people of every age and fitness level to get out, get active, and embrace a healthier lifestyle – something we champion every day at Vitality.”

“This is one of the reasons, alongside being one of the largest employers in the area, why we’re delighted to continue our support for this flagship event in the local running calendar.”

Last year thousands of runners, walkers and families lined the seafront - places went fast, and entries for 2026 are already open.
