Bournemouth charity Bee Mission recently received a £200 Access to Food Partnership grant towards venue costs for a sit-down Christmas meal for over 60 homeless people.
Amy Foster, Mission Project Director said: “We are completely self-funded, so the grant was a massive help in enabling us to hire St Michael’s Church and bring those who are rough sleeping and homeless inside, into the warm and dry.
“With the help of seven volunteers, we gave people an opportunity to sit down, enjoy a turkey dinner, pudding, chocolates and presents, and not feel they must rush off.”
Focusing on beekeeping and protecting bees which are under threat from habitat loss, climate change, pesticides and disease, Bee Mission provides opportunities for homeless people to learn new skills. Since 2019 the organisation has also been providing meals to rough sleepers.
