Councillor Andy Hadley, Cabinet Member for Climate Response, Environment and Energy at BCP Council, said:

"BCP Council has continued to assist local communities affected by flooding following Storm Bert.

"Council officers have been on-site at Iford Bridge Home Park today (Wednesday) to check that those residents who chose to remain in their homes were safe and supported.

"The Council has been notified that, following a safety inspection, electricity was restored to the site at 4pm this afternoon and it is safe for residents to return to their homes if they wish to do so.

"We are currently contacting residents evacuated from the site to inform them of this update.

"The Council will continue to offer alternative overnight accommodation to those residents who do not wish to return to their properties until daylight hours tomorrow.

"Residents returning to their homes are advised to check their appliances.

"I’d like to thank the officers from across Council departments who have worked tirelessly with the Emergency Services to keep residents safe through this period."

Councillor Andy Hadley, Cabinet Member for Climate Response, Environment and Energy at BCP Council, said:

"The council continues to actively collaborate with the Environment Agency, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service, and Dorset Police in a coordinated multi-agency response to assist local communities affected by flooding following Storm Bert.

“Work has continued throughout the day at Iford Bridge Home Park and the council established a rest centre at Beaufort Community Centre to provide support to those residents evacuated from the site. These residents have been offered suitable alternative accommodation until such time that they can safely return to their homes.

“The safety and wellbeing of our residents remains our utmost priority, and I would like to remind anyone faced with a flood emergency to dial 999, and to take the advice of the Emergency Service about moving to a place of safety when advised."

Councillor Andy Hadley, BCP Council’s Cabinet Member for Climate Response, Environment and Energy, said;  “The council has been working closely with our partners at the Environment Agency to support local communities affected by the recent storm.

“Our teams, alongside the emergency services, have responded swiftly to ensure residents have access to the support they need, following rehearsed plans for such events.

“We continue to work on site at Iford Bridge Home Park to support the residents that chose to stay in their homes overnight.

“A closer emergency rest location is now being setup at Beaufort Community Centre.

“Residents are being evacuated by the fire service and will be able to access the rest centre where there will be further support to ensure that they have somewhere safe and warm to stay until it is safe to return to their homes.

“We will continue to support residents today and in the coming days.”

In a message to residents driving in the BCP area today, Cllr Hadley added; “Due to the high river levels and flooding, Dorset Council have closed Ringwood Road at Longham Bridge. BCP Council has put barriers and warning signs in place at Bear Cross Roundabout.

“This closure affects residents travelling towards Ferndown and means there is no access to Bournemouth Recycling Centre. The centre will remain closed today. Please do not attempt to access the centre.

“Residents wishing to travel towards Ferndown should find an alternative route and proceed with care as local flooding in other areas is possible.

“If you live in Bournemouth, Christchurch or Poole you can also use Christchurch Recycling Centre and Nuffield Recycling Centre. Please check our website for details.”
