Our collaborators, Black Cherry, Africa Come to Bournemouth and Better Boscombe have worked collectively to make sure that the Boscombe Carnival and Parade is not just an event—it's a celebration of the community, creativity, and the rich cultural heritage of Boscombe. With activities for all ages, from toddlers to adults, there's something for everyone to enjoy. This year's theme promises a delightful mix of theatre, music, poetry, circus performances, and much more. Plus, with workshops and interactive experiences available, you'll have the chance to get hands-on and be part of the festivities.

Event Highlights:

Saturday, 24th August: 11am - 8pm

Saturday is packed with family-friendly activities that cater to every interest. From captivating performances to creative workshops, the day is designed to entertain and inspire. Here are some of the highlights:

High Street Workshops

- Steamship Circus: From 11am to 2pm, enjoy family fun pick-up-and-play workshops, followed by a walkabout performance at 2pm.

- BH Sewing Things: Get creative with a Pirate Costume Workshop, running from 11am to 12:30pm and 1:30pm to 3pm.

- Treehouse Theatre: Dive into the world of pirates with a workshop at 11am and a storytelling session at 1pm.

- Squidge and Pop: Experience the magic of bubbles with workshops at 12:30pm and 3pm.

Performances

- Pipedown Collective Wandering Poets: Between 11am and 2pm, listen as local poets create a community poem while traveling to nearby cafes.

- Sound of Soul Choir: Join an interactive singalong with this vibrant choir from 5pm to 6pm on the Precinct centre stage.

- Skabba Disco Pirate Party: Close the evening with a bang from 6pm to 8pm, where Abba meets Ska music in a fun-filled pirate-themed party.

Sunday, 25th August: 11am - 4pm

Missed out on Saturday's fun? No worries—Sunday is just as action-packed with even more workshops and performances, culminating in the highly anticipated Mystical Maritime Parade at 2pm.

High Street Workshops

- Steamship Circus: Join the family-friendly workshops from 11am to 2pm.

- BH Sewing Things: Continue crafting your pirate costume from 11am to 12:30pm.

- Treehouse Theatre: Enjoy a Pirate Workshop at 11am, followed by a Pirate Storytelling session at 1pm.

- Squidge and Pop: Bubble workshops are back at 12:30pm and 3pm.

Performances

- Cheikh Diop: Enjoy live music on the Centre Stage from 11am to 2pm.

- The Mystical Maritime Parade: Don’t miss the grand parade starting at 2pm—a lively procession that’s sure to be a highlight of the weekend!

The Carnival Parade

The Mystical Maritime carnival parade kicks off at Pokesdown Railway Station at 2pm on Sunday 25th August. The procession will make its way through the vibrant centre of Boscombe High Street winding through the heart of Boscombe, showcasing the lively atmosphere and community spirit. The parade will then culminate at the Boscombe precinct, where the fun and festivities continue, marking the end of the colourful and energetic journey.
