Lilliput Neighbourhood Consultation - Area Map with street names

BCP Council is inviting residents and stakeholders to share their views on a new proposal to establish a neighbourhood planning group for the Lilliput area.

The proposed Lilliput Neighbourhood Forum has applied to BCP Council to be formally designated as the neighbourhood forum for the area shown on the map.

BCP Council is asking residents and other interested parties for their views on whether Lilliput Neighbourhood Forum and Area should be designated to enable the preparation of a neighbourhood plan. Your valuable feedback will be considered as part of the decision-making process.

A neighbourhood forum has legal status for five years to develop a neighbourhood plan within a designated area.

Brought in under the Localism Act 2011, neighbourhood plans give communities an opportunity to set their own vision, objectives and planning policies for their area. When a neighbourhood plan is approved by the council, it becomes part of the statutory development plan and is used to make decisions on planning applications.

Have your say - the consultation is now open and will run until 11.59pm on Monday 25 August 2025.

Millie Earl, BCP Council Leader, said: “Neighbourhood forums are a great way for local people to have a more active role in planning the future of their area.

I encourage residents and all interested parties to share their views during this consultation to ensure that the decision reflects the needs and aspirations of the community.”

All comments received during the consultation period will be considered and will feed into the council’s formal decision-making process.

If the council approves the application, the Lilliput Neighbourhood Forum will be able to operate as a qualifying body, for the purpose of neighbourhood planning in the designated area for a period of five years.
