Summer holidays can be an expensive time for many, with many parents and carers struggling with tight budgets and food costs while keeping children entertained during July and August.
Joining forces with The Parks Foundation, the Bournemouth Community Church, The Hope Hub and The Salvation Army distributed vouchers for a free ice cream, hot drink or juice box to over 80 local families.
These summer holiday vouchers gave families the chance to enjoy The Parks Foundation’s Winton Gardens without the worry of treating the kids on a hot day.
“Summer can feel like a lonely time, particularly if you don’t have the money to go out and meet other parents. There’s also the added pressure of keeping the kids entertained.” said Becca, who was one of 80 families that benefited from the scheme. “I could treat my son to an ice cream without feeling guilty about the expense while catching up with friends at a lovely park.”
The Access to Food Partnership which runs across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole offers a range of services and initiatives for families struggling with food costs.
