Our libraries are community spaces that provide access to:
- books and information
- digital services
- learning opportunities
- activities for our communities
We continue to fund and operate library services across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
Our Library strategy includes a commitment to invest in the future of our libraries, helping to ensure they remain welcoming, accessible and sustainable for years to come. Some library users and supporters have asked whether there is a way to make a personal contribution towards these improvements.
To support this, we have introduced a voluntary donation scheme. All donations are optional and will only be used to support library services.
How to donate
You can make a one-off donation using a secure third-party payment system.
All donations received will only be used to support library services.
A 1.58% transaction fee is charged by the payment provider and will be deducted from your donation.
What donations will support
Our libraries are important community spaces used by thousands of people each year.
Many of our buildings need investment to keep them safe, welcoming and fit for the future. Across our library network, this includes work such as replacing ageing heating systems, upgrading lighting, carrying out repairs to roofs and windows, and improving library spaces for library users.
Donations can be made for general library building repairs or specifically to help with the cost of fixing the roof at Charminster Library. Donations will only be used for libraries and not for any other council purpose.
