How we support environmental change in our schools

Our school's environment award is a pupil lead education framework aimed to increase awareness about local and global environmental issues.

The programme is open to all primary educational establishments in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

The programme:

  • inspires and empowers pupils to take charge of their future through environmental projects and leadership activities
  • raises awareness about local and global environmental issues
  • improves the whole school environment
  • creates financial savings
  • involves the whole school and wider community in environmental awareness projects

About the Schools' Environment Award

We have launched 'The Schools Environment Award' for the third year. We have really enjoyed supporting and rewarding young people as they learn, and take action to reduce their environmental impact. This year we want to make it even easier to gain the award.

We have incorporated the government's requirement for a climate action plan. This means you can fulfil the government's requirement and gain an award at the same time.

How to sign up

If you are interested, you can contact us by email at wasteaware@bcpcouncil.gov.uk

We'll reach out to you in September with more information.

We will also hold 3 network meetings each year, providing schools the opportunity to request support and share feedback on their efforts and experiences.
