Request an Antisocial Behaviour (ASB) Case Review

The ASB Case Review lets people ask for a review if they think no action has been taken or not enough has been done about their antisocial behaviour (ASB) case. It looks at how agencies responded to ASB complaints. The Antisocial Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 allows victims to ask for this review, bringing agencies together to find new solutions.

The Dorset ASB Case Review Procedure explains how people in Dorset can request a review of their ASB case.

The ASB Case Review is not the same as making a formal complaint. Agencies have their own ways to handle formal complaints. Contact your main agency, or us, for advice.

Who can use the ASB Case Review

Any person, group, or business in Dorset can ask for an ASB Case Review. This can be a group of people living in the same area, a community group, or just a few neighbours. If one person is asking for the review on behalf of others, they need permission from everyone else. Someone like a support worker, MP, or family member can also ask for the review on behalf of others, but they need permission too.

Thresholds and qualifying complaints

To start an ASB Case Review, these conditions must be met:

  • there must be 3 reports from one person about 3 different antisocial behaviour incidents, reported to any local agency within 6 months
  • each incident must be reported within one month of the incident happening
  • the first incident must be within 6 months of asking for the review
  • the behaviour must count as antisocial as described in the Dorset ASB Case Review Procedure

A Qualifying Complaint can be about a closed ASB case or one still being looked at by any agency in Dorset, including us, Dorset Council, Dorset Police, or a social housing association. The procedure explains the steps we will follow and what to expect during the ASB Case Review process.

The ASB Case Review

If your complaint qualifies for a case review, a meeting will be held with different agencies to:

  • look at how your ASB case was handled
  • see what actions were taken
  • check how well these actions worked
  • decide what else can be done to deal with the ASB and help you

An action plan will be made at the meeting and shared with you.

Activate the ASB Case Review

To ask for a review of your ASB case, fill out the ASB Case Review form and send it by email to asbteam@bcpcouncil.gov.uk.

Make sure to include all the information asked for on the form so we can look at your request properly.

If you have trouble with reading or writing, or if you have a disability, you can apply in person or over the phone — but we will still need you to sign the form.

If you have any trouble applying for an ASB Case Review, call us.
