The Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) will launch on 1 April 2026. It will support residents on low incomes who need help in an emergency and provide services that build long term financial stability.
The CRF replaces the Household Support Fund and Discretionary Housing Payments, which end on 31 March 2026. We will update this page shortly with information about how to apply for the fund from 1 April 2026.
What the fund is for
The fund helps you if you experience a sudden financial shock. It also invests in services that improve financial wellbeing and reduce the risk of future crises. We will update this page shortly with information about eligibility for the fund.
How we will provide support
We will deliver the fund in 4 main ways:
Crisis Payment Scheme
You can get support for essentials, such as:
- food
- energy
- household items
- urgent transport
Support will include guidance to help you manage your situation.
Housing payments
You can get support for urgent housing needs. Payments will follow new national rules.
Resilience services
These services will help you build long term financial stability. They include:
- financial resilience support
- community grants
- pilot projects to test new ways of improving financial wellbeing
Community coordination
We will invest in partnerships that help residents access joined-up support. This includes:
- the Access to Food network
- coordinated local pathways for welfare support
