Free Carbon Literacy training for early years providers

Through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, early years providers in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole can access a free Carbon Literacy course specifically designed for the early years sector, supporting the DfE ambition for Climate Action Plans in educational settings.

The course is open to owners, managers and senior staff of nurseries, childminders and preschools for up to 2 people per business.

Carbon Literacy is about gaining an understanding of climate change, its causes and impacts, and how to adapt and mitigate for it. We also cover:

  • calculating carbon footprints
  • the additional benefits of taking climate action
  • what other early years providers are doing to reduce their impact
  • communicating climate change to others, including colleagues and families

The course will run in November over a 2-week period, consisting of 3 sessions, all hosted online for easy accessibility.
