You still must register your child's birth.
Naming ceremonies can be held at:
- one of our ceremony rooms at Bournemouth Civic Centre or Poole Guildhall
- an approved premise
- other venues including private homes or gardens, by special arrangement
The naming ceremony will be tailored to you. You will receive a ceremony planner to complete so that the registrar can create your ceremony but please include any particular wording you would like said.
As part of the ceremony you can:
- announce names
- declare your promises as parents and guardians
- include poems, readings and music (no religious content)
- nominate up to 4 adults, who promise a special relationship with the child, offering guidance and support throughout their life
- exchange gifts

You'll need the birth certificates of any children being named.
