Find out what you can put in your food waste bin.
Food waste collections will be available to all households in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole from 6 April.
Individual households are given a:
- 7 litre kitchen caddy to keep indoors
- 23 litre food waste bin to keep outdoors
Flats with communal bins are given a:
- 7 litre kitchen caddy to keep indoors
- communal 140 litre outside bin with a brown lid
You can report a missing individual bin or missing communal bin online if you do not have these.
Using your food waste bins
Kitchen caddies can be lined with compostable caddy liners, newspaper, or nothing at all.
Your food waste is collected on the same day as your rubbish and recycling collections.
Put your outside food waste bin on the kerbside where you normally place your rubbish and recycling bins for collection. Make sure your food waste bin is easy for the collection team to reach and not blocked by vehicles or other objects.
If you have shared bins that are kept in a bin store you do not need to put these out for collection.
