Facilities
We operate a marine patrol enforcement service through the summer months. The service is operational subject to weather and demand.
The service:
- enforces of bye laws
- monitors anti-social behaviour and reports any incidents to Dorset Police
- checks on Trot and Self-laid mooring licences regularly
Please note this is not a rescue or emergency service. If you need assistance on the water please dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.
The Hengistbury Head NCI station is located 36 metres above the harbour on the top of Warren Hill. With views across the harbour and the bay, from Swanage to the Needles, the station can monitor all vessels in the area and provide actual weather conditions.
Buoyage
Full buoyage within the harbour and harbour entrance is provided by the Christchurch Harbour Association. A levy of £12 is included in each mooring fee to cover their costs.
