Former tenant rent accounts policy

Our policy for managing former tenant rent accounts for BCP Homes, where there is either money owed to us or money owed to the former tenant.

A rent account becomes a former rent account when the tenancy between BCP Homes and the tenant(s) has ended. A balance can exist for a number of reasons such as:

  • tenant payments not covering the period to the end of the tenancy, leaving an outstanding balance
  • tenant payments being more than the rent to the end date of the tenancy, leaving a credit on the account
  • tenants making payments after the tenancy end date, leaving a credit on the account
  • housing related benefit being paid directly to the rent account, either not covering the period to the end of the tenancy or a payment being made after the end date
