The early years additional SEND payments policy outlines how we support early years childcare providers in meeting the needs of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), ensuring inclusive and equitable access to early education.

This policy applies to all early years providers delivering funded childcare places within Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

This policy also outlines information about:

  • eligibility criteria for children and providers
  • three-tier funding system based on the complexity of the child’s needs
  • application process for providers seeking additional SEND payments
  • roles and responsibilities of providers, area SENCOs, and the Early Years Team
