The winners for the schools Leave only Footprints competition have been announced. School children from across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole created artwork to encourage visitors to our beaches, parks and heathlands to take their litter home and respect the environment. BCP Council have received nearly 300 pieces of artwork and awarded prizes for the best overall entries:

Primary School Winner: Coral, aged 9, Manorside Academy

(Runner Up: Ruby at Burton School)

Secondary School Winner: Kye P at Grange School

(Runners up: Corben at The Grange School and Amelia C at Bourne Academy)

Post 16Bournemouth & Poole (Foundation Learning group): Ellen B

(Runner Up: Georgina J)

The artwork – which was created in full colour and either hand drawn, painted or digital – aimed to encourage visitors to respect the environment. All the artwork received can be viewed here and each school will have some of their artwork used across a range of signs along the seafront which will be on display next month during the peak summer holiday season.

Councillor Vikki Slade, Leader of BCP Council said:

"We have been overwhelmed by the standard of artwork received and would like to thank all the children who took their time to create these innovate pieces. We look forward to seeing much of this artwork in signage across our seafront and hope that these messages will help visitors to respect our environment and to think twice before leaving litter."

Councillor Sandra Moore, Portfolio Holder for Children and Families added:

"We would like to congratulate all the winners and also all the children and young people who have produced the artwork to help us promote the message to leave only footprints. We hope that this will help encourage positive actions for now and in future years to help protect our environment."
