The recommendation on the appointment of the new Director for Children’s Services for BCP Council has been announced.

The Senior Appointments Committee has recommended Judith Ramsden following an external and robust recruitment process.

Judith has previously held the position as Director of People Services (DCS and DAS) at Wokingham Borough Council, has been a Strategic Commissioner and has been working recently as a consultant to support a number of change and commissioning projects.

The recommendation will be taken to the next meeting of the BCP Shadow Authority on 21 February 2019.

Cllr Janet Walton, Chairman of the Senior Appointments Committee said: "The Committee is very pleased to make this recommendation to members of the BCP Shadow Authority. The appointment will complete the process of creating our senior management team for BCP Council. We are confident that our new Chief Executive Graham Farrant and his fellow Directors will work well with members as we move forward through this exciting programme of change and transformation."

The appointment of four other Directors – Jan Thurgood (Adult Social Care), Kate Ryan (Environment and Community), Bill Cotton (Regeneration and Economy) and Julian Osgathorpe (Resources) – was confirmed by the Shadow Authority in December.

BCP Council is a new unitary council being formed as part of local government reorganisation in Dorset. The nine existing councils will be disbanded and two new unitary councils will come into being from 1 April 2019.
