Plans for a new primary school building In the Hillbourne area of Poole have been submitted to the Council for approval.

If approved, the site on Kitchener Crescent, Poole would see the development of a modern 2-form of entry primary school and preschool building. The plans show the new building would be situated in the centre of the site allowing for construction to take place whilst allowing the current school to continue to operate.

The new school would be a 2-storey building providing the following facilities:

  • A modern fit-for purpose classroom block
  • School hall and studio block
  • Preschool and play area
  • Multi-use games area and outdoor play areas
  • Purpose-built sports pitch
  • Staff car park
  • The school building would be developed to allow flexible use of space to cater for a positive activity offer for young people in the local area.

Officers have been working closely with the school and the local community to develop the plans. The development is set to be an attractive build and the design ensures that it is as sympathetic and in keeping with the surrounding neighbourhood as possible.

If the plans are approved, work on site could begin as early as next Spring 2020 with the aim to open in Spring 2021.

At a later date, there are plans to develop housing on either side of the new school delivered in a phased approach once the new school is fully open. A planning application for the housing element of the scheme is due for submission in the new year.

The planning application for the new school is available online: www.bcpcouncil.gov.uk
