Litter picking, grass cutting and essential highway maintenance works are planned to take place on the Wessex Way next week (24-25 May) ahead of welcoming visitors over the Bank Holiday weekend.
Taking place from County Gates in Westbourne through to Cooper Dene Flyover, BCP Council operatives will undertake the work throughout the evenings to minimise disruption to traffic.
Sections of the road will be closed for approximately seven hours on both nights, commencing at 8.30pm (dependent on traffic counts) with relevant diversions in place.
Councillor Mark Anderson, Portfolio Holder for Environment, Cleansing and Waste commented:
"As part of our Cleaner, Greener, Safer campaign we’re committed to cleaning up our conurbation. This latest work along the Wessex Way is being undertaken when government restrictions are easing and we’re welcoming back more people to our area – and will really show that we take pride in how our conurbation looks, making it cleaner for all.
"We want to protect and enhance our environment, and we’re encouraging residents to help us spread the message that dropping or throwing litter out of your car window is not acceptable, it damages the environment and can be a danger to wildlife. Please take it home with you instead and dispose of it there."
On the first night, 24 May, the team will be undertaking works from the County Gates to Springbourne and on the second night, from Springbourne to the Cooper Dene Flyover.
