The historic first local elections to BCP Council have resulted in a hung council for the next four years, following yesterday’s local elections (Thursday 2 May 2019).
The total seats now held on BCP Council, by each party, are:
Conservative: 36
Liberal Democrat: 15
Independent: 11
Poole People: 7
Labour: 3
Green: 2
Alliance for Local Living 1
UKIP 1
With the first results announced around 3pm, the last result to be announced was Christchurch Town at 6.30pm. Overall turnout was 33.13%, with the highest percentage of voters in in Broadstone Ward, with 49.67%.
Returning Officer for the BCP Elections was BCP Chief Executive Graham Farrant.

Notes to editor:
A total of 322,307 people in the BCP Council area are registered and eligible to vote.
Around 39,000 people opted to have their say using a postal vote.
BCP Council was formed on April 1 and is responsible for all local government services for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
BCP Council is made up of 33 wards with 76 elected councillors.
There are 170 polling stations across the BCP Council polling area.
