A motion has been submitted to bring a vote of no confidence in the Leader of the Council. This will be considered at the Council meeting on 9 June 2020.

The relevant procedural details from the Constitution are set out here:

Votes of No Confidence:

The Leader shall cease to be the Leader if a vote of no confidence is carried at a meeting of the Full Council. Following this, the Deputy Leader will act in the Leader’s role. If the Deputy Leader is unable to act or the office is vacant then the Cabinet must act in the Leader’s place or must arrange for a member of the Cabinet to take the Leader’s role, until a decision is made by the Council to appoint a new Leader. In the event of there being no Leader, Deputy or Cabinet members, executive functions shall in the interim be carried out by the Chief Executive.

Should a vote be carried, the earliest an Extraordinary Council Meeting could take place would be Thursday 18 June.

More procedural information can be found in Article 7 of the Constitution.
