BCP Council has taken the decision to cancel the annual fireworks event, due to take place on Thursday 5 November at Poole Quay.

The popular event, which draws in thousands of residents and visitors every year, has had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic amid concerns over social distancing.

Cllr Vikki Slade, Acting Portfolio Holder for Tourism, Leisure and Communities, said: "It is with regret that we have had to cancel the very popular fireworks display at Poole Quay on Friday 5 November due to the COVID-19 restrictions.

"This annual event attracted thousands to the quay every year but, in order to ensure the safety of our residents, the decision has been made to cancel the event for this year."

The Littledown fireworks event, due to take place on Saturday 7 November in Bournemouth, will also not be going ahead as planned.

Event Director, Mick Callaghan, said: "We will be back next year on Saturday 6 November 2021 for an even bigger and better event."
