The first ever Chairman, Vice Chairman and Leader of BCP Council will be elected on Tuesday 21 May 2019.

Following this month’s historic inaugural BCP Council elections, Councillors will attend their first meeting of the Full Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council (Annual Council).

The first Council Leader for BCP Council will be elected and will then be able to appoint the Cabinet Members. The allocation of seats on Committees to each of the political groups based on the requirement for political balance will also be agreed, and members of the Committees will then be nominated by each of the groups.

The local elections for BCP Council resulted in no single political group achieving a majority of seats.

Chief Executive for BCP Council, Graham Farrant, said: "This meeting will mark a significant milestone in the establishment of BCP Council.

"It is important that party representatives continue to talk to each other across the groups with a view to determining how they can best work together to help shape key policies and strategies for BCP Council going forward.

"As Officers it is important we remain impartial and objective whilst supporting all 76 elected Councillors."

The first Annual Council meeting of the BCP Council will take place on Tuesday 21 May 2019 at 7pm at Bournemouth University.
