Gearing up in anticipation for visitors returning to enjoy local beaches, two new Park and Ride services will be operated in Bournemouth and Poole this summer.

As part of its summer readiness and seasonal response plan, BCP Council has been working with local transport providers, Morebus to facilitate Park and Ride services to popular seafront areas. These services will be stepped up in advance of the peak season when the resort can reasonably expect an increase in visitor numbers.

The first service will be in operation in time for the May Bank Holiday weekend. Running throughout the summer services include:

  • King Park to Boscombe Pier – £5 to park with a free Morebus service every 15 minutes. Dates include 29, 30 and 31 May, all weekends in June and July, daily from 24 July to 1 September 2021.
  • Poole Civic Centre to Sandbanks - free parking and £5 maximum family travel on Morebus Service 60 every 15 minutes. This will run from 24 July to 5 September 2021.

Councillor Mike Greene, Portfolio Holder for Transport and Sustainability said:

"We know that people will be eager to return to the area and make the most out of our award-winning beaches this summer. By facilitating park and ride at these key locations, we will improve our ability to welcome people back and manage the anticipated additional demand on the network. This will also help to ensure that everyone can enjoy a relaxed, memorable and safe experience at the busiest time of the year.’’

Andrew Wickham, Managing Director at Morebus, comments:

"We are pleased to be working proactively with BCP Council and supporting their plans to manage the resort ahead of an anticipated bumper tourism season. Helping to alleviate congestion, this service will provide an excellent travel alternative for residents, families and visitors.’’
